Growth Scan

The Growth Scan is an important ultrasound performed during the later stages of pregnancy, usually in the third trimester (around 28 to 34 weeks). It is used to monitor the baby’s growth, development, and overall well-being. This scan helps ensure that the fetus is growing at a healthy rate and receiving adequate nutrients and oxygen from the placenta.

During the growth scan, various fetal measurements such as head circumference, abdominal circumference, and femur length are taken to estimate the baby’s weight and growth pattern. It also evaluates the position of the baby, the amount of amniotic fluid, and the condition and location of the placenta. In some cases, Doppler studies may be included to assess blood flow between the mother and baby.
